Doing Business in Hidalgo  Hidalgo is world renowned for its silver production and export, with the mines of Real del Monte still producing significant amounts. Pachuca, the state capital, served as the base for miners brought from Cornwall, Britain in the 19th century, famously introducing football to Mexico. Another legacy left behind by these Cornish workers is the traditional meat pies, known as pastes, which are sold in bakeries everywhere.
