The Beach:

Annual national and international fishing tournaments are held for marlin, sailfish, tuna, and dorado, with generous prizes that include boats and cars. The Torneo Internacional de Pesca de Marlin, Pez Vela y Dorado por Equipos takes place during three days around the third week of January. The Torneo Internacional de Marlin Club de Pesca Barra de Navidad runs for two days during late May or early June, in addition to a two-day tournament in mid-August.
Sailing:Last year was the first for the annual Puerto Vallarta to Barra de Navidad (there is a marina in Bahia de Navidad) regatta. The regatta is approximately 125nm long and takes place around December 26, 2003. For more details: www. vallartainternationalsailingassociation.com
Golf:There is a 27-hole championship golf course, part of the Grand Bay Hotel, which also welcomes non-guests (Tel: 355 61 94).
